1. Actually finding it
2. Surviving long enough to collect without being gunned down by the enemy team

I think I'll stick to randomly looking around every map over remembering every location in every map lol. That being said I think a general rule of thumb for the gargoyles is that they cannot be in team specific spots or locked areas (like underworlds on maps that have them).

Also I miss the old Halloween gifts :( Valve should really bring back the old item spells as bonus rewards for transmutes

I know they have fixed spawns, but with how far away and in weird slots they are sometimes it feels like the game hasnt spawned them at all.

Yeah, I always figured they had fixed spawns, but this makes it easier to list them all and write them down.

Getting halloween cosmetics from the halloween gifts was always a million times better than getting them from the halloween contracts because unlike the contracts, the halloween gifts would not force you to play on only 1 specific halloween map just to get 1 stupid cosmetic, and they would randomly appear on any halloween map that you were currently playing on. If I were you valve, I’d remove both the halloween contracts and soul gargoyles and bring back the halloween gifts.

Man I wish I’d played the game more, I started in 2012 but missed soo much, most of the near 4k hours I have were spent in deathrun, prophunt, trade and idle servers, wasn’t until last year I learnt how to air straife properly despite having always maimed soldier

i just figured it out my self, they just put the Gargoyle in the "Main" route, basically it wouldn't spawn any random place but if you walk straight from Blue spawn to last point you should always be able to see it. only rarely does it spawn inside a few room that is out of sight if you walk on the main route. The Gargoyle also spawn with how many points red still have if you play on attack defense, for instance if blue pushed to 2nd point on mannmanor, the Gargoyle only spawn between that and the last point

Remember when it had the gift model, I used to find a community server with a queue system that all players got into a queue and when the gift spawned all players got frozen and the player which turn it was got to run around the map until the gift was found. Some servers even later got a teleport system for the chosen player.

there's a zombie fortress map where they always spawn next to the same grave and nowhere else, I spent the entire match while waiting to die just picking them up.

I never even played TF2 and I could tell they didn't spawn randomly on the map and that they had sex specific spawn spots.

It's cool you learned the hammer editor but you could also have just memorized the spawn locations from playing.

Good lord, i almost forgot the rush to get gift boxes in early halloween maps. The horrors.

Putting the gargoyle above a death pit would be the most aggravating place possible. It takes time to actually receive the souls, so if you die before that point you get nothing from your gargoyle.
