Did you all notice that he did the staccato passages in the last mvt upbow and then downbow? That was mind blowing!

I used to think Vengerov has the best redition of this concerto, full of passion with soaring dynamic and lyrical phrasing. He literally is singing with his violin. Now I feel this concert by Kavakos is equally amazing for different reasons. Kavakos has this pure golden tone with such cleaness and resonance/projection. His technique is beyond impeccable and the passion hides behind his sublime shifts. I used to think he is cold and unemotional in both his music and his playing demeanor and frankly didn't appreciate his music because it was too academic/cerebral for me. This concert shows a side of his playing that I am thrilled to discover.

The density of Kavakos' tone hooked me.

Kavakos continues to blow me away with every performance I hear and see ‐ as body language is important (professionally‐speaking) for a soloist.

Each violinist has his own energy and his own particular way of performing an immortal masterpiece of music. It takes intelligence, and a lot of it, to be a concert performer and, of course, a good instrument. It's the first time I hear this concert violinist. I'm in awe, he's a star of the first magnitude

Bravo!!!

i think this is my favourite performance of this concerto…! the violin is noble, pensive, reflective, the orchestra is able to keep up too

I’m just in awe of how he did the second upbow staccato down bow at 29:59 and 33:05, most do either the whole thing up bow or half and half!

the best of the bests so far. I wish he had added a bit of emotional vividness on the 3rd mov.
