“Working Together” To Save Lives

Working Together is a three part video series that chronicles the success of the unique collaboration between The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) and the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA) and their development of emergency skills training by and for midwives.

“We are saving lives with this training,” said Dr. Sebalda Leshabari, Secretary General of the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA).
On April 11th, as part of the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights, The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) launched a series of videos that chronicle the successful partnership between CAM and the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA) in MEST (Midwives Emergency Skills Training). Generously funded by the Sanofi Espoir Foundation, the videos examine the important role the partnership and training play in empowering the reproductive choices of women, but also how they save lives.

“We are committed to ensuring that the voices of southern midwifery associations meaningfully inform global maternal, newborn and child health programming...the Canadian Midwifery Model of Care is uniquely suited to working in developing country settings because it emphasizes low technology techniques, and emphasizes developing good clinical judgment.” said Katrina Kilroy, President of CAM.
