As much as i like frieza it would have been hella better with buu, and would have been more fun. As well as that it would have been better seeing buu and goku knock jiren out instead of goku and frieza imo. But i guess they needed frieza for another villian arc 😂😂.

Nah! Frieza was totally the best choice for this type of a tournament where intelligence and battle IQ is more important than brute strength. Buu could have been knocked out easily if had fought mindfully. Additionally, frieza's vocabulary was a treat to ears.
