Former Australia High Court Justice, Michael Kirby, explains the AIDS paradox: in the interest of public health we must support key and vulnerable communities, rather than discriminate against them. He also explores the role of legislation in strengthening the HIV response and pathways to creating and implementing better laws.
Mr. Kirby is an esteemed jurist, legal scholar and pioneering AIDS activist. He was a member of the World Health Organization's Global Commission on AIDS and sat on the Global Commission on HIV and the Law convened by UNAIDS and UNDP.
Among his advocacy priorities have been decriminalizing homosexuality and reducing the cost of HIV treatment.
