I had a reduction and developed necrosis in my left breast. Lost the nipple and areola. I actually quit smoking, two weeks prior, as per the surgeon's instructions. What he failed to mention was it was the *nicotine* and not the smoking. I used nicotine gum. And still developed necrosis. Had reconstruction after the golf ball sized hole the dead tissue left behind grew back in. Avoid NICOTINE, not just smoking. Gross negligence on my surgeon's part. 💯%✓

Actually, THAT happened to my best friend- Many years ago- She had a Breast Reduction- They we’re huge and she had ridges in her shoulders from her bra straps. Her DOC, forgot to mention to her- NOT TO SMOKE for 6 weeks before her Reduction- after the operation, she had been bandaged for sometime, and felt something was wrong, during that time. Finally, when the bandages were removed, they found that her “nipples didn’t TAKE.” They had to have been removed & reattached for the surgery, but her Doc forgot to tell her not to smoke and the nipples turned black & were basically dead tissue. Her breasts turned out nice, just rounded, plain, without nipples. She was devastated for a while.

You're so right about the cocaine. Had a rhinoplasty about 40 years ago after my 9 mo. old nephew broke my nose. I was awake for the whole surgery. (Not recommended!) I not only remember the coke, which made me talk non-stop, but I also remember the injection at the base of my nose and the hammer coming at my face.. The cocaine did not make me not care about that injection.

I broke my nose years ago. The Drs at the naval hospital smushed it around a bit but then let it heal kinda crooked. Then the Dr had me sniff some liquid in my nose before he broke it again and crushed it up and reshaped it. Later he told me it was cocaine. Yikes 😬
