2014 Honda CRV VTC Actuator Rattle / Grind

I believe my VTC Actuator is making this noise. The car only has 27k miles. It only happens on the first start of the morning and only about once a week. Honda should cover it under the power-train warranty. Hopefully they will accept this video as evidence.

Just an update, the dealer confirmed it was the VTC Actuator and they replaced it under warranty.

I had mr vtc changed and the noise came back. I spoke to a Honda mechanic I know and he just smirked... saying we can change the part all you want it won't stop the noise. The oil isnt reaching the top on the engine on start up that's what the grinding is. He says it wont cause any damage in the long run....I'm not too sure about that

Had this happen as well. Cold start, had it repaired and started happening again a year later. Wish Honda would release a recall on this.

A couple months shy of two years after getting it fixed and the noise is back! Not sure if I should bother getting it fixed again. Only does it in the winter when cold and sitting overnight.

Hi. As anyone opened the front cover of their VTC Actuator and stretched the lock pin spring in it? If so, did it work out fine? Can it damage anything over time? Thanks

My civic 2018 is making a noise too on cold start. But it is more like a short screeching high pitched sound. Same sound when you start a car and it extends. Does it sound like a bad vtc actuator or just the starter motor?

Look how many comments are on here .. across multiple videos and Honda does nothing to even inform their customers this is a possibility when it seems to happen to EVERY SINGLE CAR THEY SELL

I had same issue, Honda helped me replace the VTC under factory warranty, but a year later it starts doing it again. What should I do? Can I just leave it like that? Or, I should get fixed? If so, How much would it be? thank you.
