3:30- “We’re busy because other people are busy.”

*Feels the proverbial wind created by these words slap me across the face*

"It's difficult to overstate the unimportance of practically everything"

That's a truth bomb right there.

My notes from this interview
"Greg writer of essentialist
"1.If you don't prioritize your life someone else will do it,
2.Busy but not productive
3.We are busy Beacuse other people are busy
4.It's not about getting more, it's about getting the right things.
5.Practically we are saying no to so many things but we resist to say the word "no"
6.Surely unexpected things will come out
7.Don't take Beacuse it's good
8.Don't take Beacuse you can
Make sure the right things for the right time for the right reason
9.Will I have buffer for my other projects...?
10.Small amount for long term of life, consistency
11. What I want from social media, what's the exchange value
12. No one can say everything to everyone
13. More efforts does not always correlate to more results
14. Justification for slow down...
Few things are exceptionally valuable, most other things are noise, then you will automatically, spontaneously, naturally start changing your behavior. "

*It’s not about getting more done, it’s about getting the RIGHT things done... Learn the difference between the trivial many vs the vital few and life will become naturally better. I recently* *made an animated video on Essentialism, i wonder what you all think?*

I'm 75% done with Greg's book "essentialism". And preparing a for a big talk with my manager about creating clearer and more essential goals.

Thank you Greg and Matt!

I am only 18 and I feel with a lot of young people we use objects to occupy and entertain to distract from fear. I think a lot of us know the weight that is on our shoulders to do better because of the current state of OUR planet and the repercussions we will have to face as opposed to older generations who won't. A lot of us are afraid and want distraction, we don't want to engage with reality. I am so guilty of this because the alternative seems so frightening, staring the beast in the face instead of relying on the temporary comfort of more.

I worked part-time throughout my entire career. I just learned to go without. Saved lots of money. Comfortably retired. Really enjoyed my time off and still do.

I bet if there was a counter that showed the level of appreciation per subscriber for each channel, Matt's rating would be in the top 2% of all of YouTube. At least. 💙

27:45 - Becoming essentialist is like discovering you've lived your whole life in a coal mine, when one day you wake up and realize its a diamond mine. You start to value the little nuggets instead of focusing on volume.

1 thing I noticed after coming home to normal life, after 5 months of travelling and back packing was how life became too busy, too many plans, too many bills, too many decisions to make everyday and it was a lot of effort to slow down and make it less busy. Having that time of quiet or slowness is the most wonderful thing, most happiest for me too. Thx for the video 😍

"If you don't prioritize you life, someone else will" - great lesson. So simple, but many of us live their life totally opposite...

I became a minimalist about two years ago. I've noticed that my human connections have fallen off. Background- I find that I can live most of my life commuting on my electric motorcycle with everything I need in my backpack. I never go shopping except for food. I'm spending more time outdoors exercising (city bike). I've quit watching television, except for some sporting events.

I have met resistance and a loss of connectedness. I'm not part of the watercooler conversations at work- what was on television this week, bitching about the price of petrol, etc. Friends and family struggle to find something to talk to you about. Gift giving holidays are a struggle. Friends, family, coworkers think I'm antisocial. You just have less things that connect to other people because you're not talking about the things you've taken out of your daily orbit that are still in theirs without them feeling as though your are completely uninterested in waht interests them or being judgemental. Is this normal and how do you stay connected?
