to the comments I just saw, this is an emergency short term only muzzle.
Made for trimming nails, getting handled by a vet/groomer, vaccines etc. This muzzle is not to go out for walks. They will suffocate and have a heat stroke if you use this for walks as they are unable to pant. Get a basket/wire muzzle for walks.

If you have a nervous dog then learn how to handle them

. Get them in between your legs (like if you were gonna hug them), put one hand on the stomach and the other hand in the head/neck area. That would hold them while not causing any panic on them.

have the other person put the muzzle on and work with them.

This is awesome. I have a dog that gets very nippy when his ears are bothering him, so this was a great skill to learn.

Thank you. Needed to tend to a cut on her rear paw and she refused to let me. Snapped a few times, but did not make contact. Used a strip of jersey, she managed to wrangle it off a few times then I did it tight enough so this could not happen. She settled and in under five minutes I was done and she was happy once more. Please people- all vets showing this method emphasized that it was for no more than 20 mins.

@WikiPetHealth you can use a cotton cloth and cut a hole in the middle for the mouth and make sure the cotton is long enough to tie around the dogs neck so it can't get out of the muzzle. I did it for a dog that i baby sit it works.

@WikiPetHealth you can use an old sock to cut a hole in where the dog can breath and just put hole on the side of the sock to put the strings through the sock so it can have a sure fit.

Our one dog has started to get nippy if he anticipates a bath. Once he's wet, he just accepts it. This is a perfect short-term solution.

I've done this 3x... Tied it tight and went around an extra time. Dog was sleepy so he didn't resist. Came back to the room less than a minute later and he got it off each time.

I saw in another video that you should tie it in a bow behind their head in case of an emergency to get it off. If you tie a knot as shown in this video, the dog can try to take it off which will tighten it, making it difficult to get off.

Thank you I know this is old but I just adopted a large pit bull and he's such a well mannored dog even with my kids. Until the nail clippers go towards his feet. He doesnt bite the person but he tries to take the clippers. Its rather funny but annoying. I tried this now he just hangs his head in defeat and i dont have to spend money on something I can make with what i have.

My dog was still able to take it off. We had to use two leashes and they had to be really tight so it could work.

The problem with the lead version is it closes down the dogs mouth so it cannot breathe through its mouth or use its tongue.
A true basket muzzle will allow proper mouth use without being able to bite.
