Leslie Odom Jr. just performed this song in Denver as the encore, and it was incredible. He abruptly stopped the song after the first few words to acknowledge the sign language interpreters who had been working tirelessly the whole show off to the side. He brought one onto the stage, started the song over, and she passionately signed right next to Leslie's perfect voice. It was unforgettable.Thank you for the amazing show, Leslie. Look forward to seeing you in 2020!

Just watched RENT on TV tonight for the umpteenth time, and it got me again. I'm bawling my eyes out. And it always seems to start right when this song comes on. I'd never heard Lesie Odom's version until tonight. Unbelievable. Just downloaded it from iTunes. It'll be in high rotation on my iPhone until the day I die. Quite possibly the saddest and most beautiful song ever written. RIP Jonathan Larson. As much as I love RENT -- both the Broadway (and off Broadway) play(s) and the movie, I can't help but imagine how much better it would have been with a voice like Leslie Odom Jr.'s in the cast. Just wow.
