Today Researcher R. will be reviewing a Proposal for the Classification of Synthetic, Non-Anomalous Amnestic Agents in the Updated Amnestics Guide. These include:

Class A, General Retrograde
For erasing recent and/or specific episodic memories

For the incremental erasure of recent memories

For the removal of specific memories from any point in the subject's life

To cause subjects to doubt the authenticity of their memories

To prevent the formation of new memories

For inducing a temporary amnesic state

Protection against anti-memetic and other mnemonic anomalies

Real-world memory warping/erasing drugs have existed since the 80s as far as I know, decades before "roofies". Some "medicines" used in the Voodoo religion stop memories from forming while causing the person to do as they are told while high. Halomine (if that's how you spell it) is a drug I used way back when and all I know is that it put big blank spots in my memory. I remember hallucinating (better than LSD) then losing hours of time then hallucinating harder than an LSD high until I came down. SCP writers took some inspiration from the real world but such mind-altering drugs but there are far more avenues to get them and far greater variety than one would think because every nation is spending a fortune covering up their very existence. As some chemists who supply drug dealers or some college graduates who got their masters' degree in biochemical engineering, they are scary common. Many powerful hallucinogens can soften up your rock-solid memories to the point where, while high, someone talking to you about your past and "correcting you" can actually modify that "authentic memory" to be the false one they created. Some cults use them. The USA is the only nation flirting with authoritarianism that's rich enough to do that. Authoritarian governments cannot afford to do it that way because they are spending far too much of their resources of their nations just to keep them authoritarian. The only former authoritarian nations that could do that were war-profit Germany of WWII and early expansion war-profit Japan of WWII.

This is very different from the other guide to amnestics, where A is for aerosol, B is liquid or pill, and C+ is injected and requires medical oversight.

While amnestics and their morality can make for interesting tales I tend to prefer the ones involving mnestics for the sheer mindf*ck that they're usually involved in. Memory related anomalies are particularly messy.

So, basically the, Men In Black neuralyzer, is a class F amnestic, only instead of the subject forgetting their identity, they forget an event then are given/suggested a new event. Correct me if I’m wrong.
