Carrickfergus Gets Active 2018

Carrickfergus Gets Active is a partnership approach to address the growing concern of holiday hunger amongst children during school holidays.
The aim of the programme is to support families (primarily those with children who are in receipt of free school meals) overcome difficulties faced during school closure times.

This is the first programme in Carrickfergus. It is a partnership between Children in Northern Ireland and Carrickfergus YMCA and is support by Public Health Agency and Brakes. Carrickfergus Gets Active added value to the YMCA Parents and Kids Together Programme (PAKT) which runs each summer.

Children from Carrickfergus attended the programme and enjoyed the provision of lunch, snacks and water throughout the duration of the programme. They also enjoyed continued learning with the Mini Medics course.
