#1 - it's not "claiming territory", it's having the first chance at talking with them without anyone jumping in. How often have you talked to someone, and they seem cool enough, and then BOOM, their buddy Josh walks through being the extroverted funny guy trying to get anyone and everyone's attention

2: the wingman concept, not much else to say really
3: it makes sense for it to be that way, sometimes shotgun will be the dj. That's up to the whole car though
4: society has said that men need to act a certain way and compliments are not in that, but insults are. A guy complimenting another usually means that they dont like the other or the one being complimented isn't around, and you don't talk any sh*t behind someone's back if you respect them

The nods are just built in, we didn't think "we need to make up our own language" or anything, we just understand each other with non-verbal communication.
