Blossoming Tortoise is a lord for lands? So blossoming tortoise is a landlord?

I generally have a laugh or two when watching one of Seth’s videos, but that story about the turtle and the Doritos truly did me in.

it took me a full hour to finally realize that seth kept calling it sky turtle bc of the sky turtle from kamigawa

That turtle story might be the most Seth, Better-Known-As Saffron Olive, thing ever.

Dude, that turtle story is literally the same thing I did when I was younger. My father saved it from the road and new I loved turtles so he brought it home for a few days before we let it loose in a nearby creek. Live long and prosper, Dribble!

I love that the combo is so niche that most people don't count it immediately.

Came for the gameplay, stayed for the Dorrito-eating turtle.

Sometimes I forget about Seth's random ramblings and zone out and this is what I come back to.

Love it.

1:10 there are other effects that can reduce mana spent for abilities to zero, but they usually have a much harsher restriction than just being on a card type. Reducing Equip abilities generic cost by an amount all the way down to 0 is actually relatively common now.

Cards that can reduce the mana spent for one of their own abilities to 0:
Battlefield Butcher
Belt of Giant Strength
Hylda's Crown of Winter
Jodah's Codex
Mirror of Galadriel
Mobilized District
Plate Armor
Towashi Guide-Bot
Voldaren Estate

Cards that can potentially reduce the mana spent for other cards abilities to 0:
Bladegraft Aspirant (abilities of equipment you control that target it)
Bladehold War-Whip (equip abilities of other equipment)
Dragonkin Berserker (Boast abilities; there are currently three that can be reduced to 0)
Embalmer's Tools (all abilities of creature cards in graveyards; there are a few that cost only generic mana, most notably Sliver Gravemother and the Encore she gives to slivers in your graveyard)
Eowyn, Lady of Rohan (equip abilities)
Fervent Champion (equip abilities that target it)
Fighter Class (equip abilities)
Fluctuator (cycling Abilities)
Nahiri, Storm of Stone (equip abilities)
Sam, Loyal Attendant (all abilities of food)

Cards that could theoretically reduce the mana spent to 0 if a card with the specified ability is made that costs no colored mana:
Silver-Fur Master (ninjutsu abilities)

I run a commander deck where this is the main strategy, except with equipment. Bladehold War-Whip reduces equips by 1, no restrictions, and the commander Astor, Bearer of Blades makes all equip costs a flat 1. Control both? Equip 0! I think this gonna be wild!

Vote here for "Blossoming Sky Tortoise" to become Seth's new "Eijano Castle" for standard.

That Doctor Who Farwell in the deck tech is gorgeous.

Blossoming Tortoise was definitely the most hype thing I pulled from my pre-release packs for Eldraine. Ever since I drafted MoM back in like June, I've had this plan for a Yedora, Grave Gardener commander deck in mind, just endlessly reviving an army of trees to beat down the opponent with a board that is incredibly sticky and hard to remove. Blossoming Tortoise took that idea from a "Maybe I'll build this" to a "I'm definitely doing this now" very quickly. Even now, it's actually doing some work in my Sarulf, Realm Eater deck, because that one relies so much on utility and creature lands in the late-game, when most of my other gameplans are removed, either by my opponent's interaction or my own Sarulf-triggers.

Seth, the reason you keep calling it Blossoming Skyturtle is probably because of the million or so value loops you've done over the last year and a bit with Shigeki and Colossal Skyturtle...

The dimir sword is probably better just for the protection colors lol

WotC never gets Reach right. So many creatures have it that shouldn't. And a card literally called SKY Turtle as evidenced by this video doesn't have Reach?! Insane
