Fracking wastewater well linked to Ohio earthquake

Показать описание
An earthquake in Ohio on New Year's Eve was caused by the injection of fracking wastewater, an expert report has concluded. The magnitude 4 temblor was the latest in a series of small quakes centered around the 1.7-mile-deep wastewater disposal well outside Youngstown. A Columbia University seismologist said the quake was caused when the injected water created pressure on a fault line. The well along with four others within a five-mile radius will remain closed until an assessment is completed.
