Enamelling is one of the oldest ornamental techniques and early examples of enameled pieces have been found which date back to the 13th Century BC. The technique has been popular at various periods throughout history and the Art Nouveau period was particularly famous for its highly intricate and beautiful enamelled pieces, such as the Fabergé eggs created for the Russian Czar.

Today, enamel is once again a big trend and provides the jewellery with a glossy and durable finish. It adds striking colours, depth, dimension and gives the jewellery an edge.

Enamelling is a decoration often used on Pandora jewellery. Colours are mixed in-house and the glossy, hardwearing enamel is applied to the jewellery by hand using a thin needle, or by hand-painting it for shaded enamel effects.

I would love to see more of the process of enameling. I think that would really help to ignite my, and other customer's, appreciation for the detailing that goes into the charms Pandora makes.
