That Archvile resurrecting the dead Archvile was a crime

Imagine if this was the standard back in 1995, what would games look like today?

As soon as I realized I was looking at Blast Pit, my eyes went about as wide as they can physically get. This is insanely impressive in every respect, and I love all the little references thrown in!

Okay, this was very impressive, but you've gone too far when arch-viles start resurrecting each other! 😱

Haha, this is a ridiculous project. Very well done. I love the engine updates. Mouse look, colored light, floors on top of floors, water...moveable water, checkpoints. I also like all the nods to other PC games, like Half-Life, obviously, and Heretic/Hexen, and Quake, and I thought I heard Blood, but also Tomb Raider, surprisingly. This was a delight to watch!

Edit: Oh yeah, I also appreciated the UV-Tyson('s Chicken) run of Pecking Order. Haha, so good.

That's how DOOM would've looked like if it was released around 1995

What an interesting way to expand upon the vanilla experience with all the id Tech 1 titles in a single tech demo, even featuring a nod to Blast Pit from Half-Lfe which is quite ambitious, shoutouts to the chicken mini game and the genius secret puzzle. 🐔

holy crap! this just kept blowing my mind, you really have to have some knowledge of the doom engine and its original limitations to see why this is so impressive. your work is excellent as always

AH, so you've implemented various ZDoom features into the ACE injected DOS version. Very cool!

I am so invested on this breakthrough! Think of the new mods and games we could make with this! Extraordinary! Hopefully this could run on other source ports! that'd be asking for too much hehe ^^

Unfortunately I missed the original upload of the video, came to check up on your work and saw that you finished it!
This is so awesome, I hope every doom modder who isn't planning to go absolutely insane with custom scripting stuff is going to use this as the basis from now on.
Unfortunately I found this a day to late, yesterday the summer temps were good enough for me to use my old PC, today they are not. Going to eagerly wait for a cold day to give this a spin on my retro PC.
Its a fully MS-Dos compatible Athlon 64 x2 so I have plenty of horse power to power whatever people build with this.

absolutely insane
does that mean id could've done something like this instead of doom 2 that we got back in the 1994-1995??? considering *this* wasn't done by a big game developer, just in a few months, without changing the original engine a single bit and ran on hardware from those times.... mindblowing

I hope you've fixed the heatsink property before filming this. It would be a shame to fry grandpa 486

I do look forward to making an iwad with this, just have to learn the ins and outs of this thing, but otherwise very cool!

Also, zdoom free version no virus :trolling:

This would be impressive even as just a sourceport for DOS, but a fucking hacked wad?! That's gotta be some kind of dark sorcery. Did I just invite demons into my PC by running this?

So in ACE we can get almost zdoom levels of customisation that's amazing

Quick note, I ran into some difficulties running this under dosbox, as I had configured Doom 2 to use Gravis UltraSound for sound effects, and A. GUS is apparently not compatible with the ACE shenanigans you get up to here, and B. since you copy the sound settings into your own ace.cfg file, my subsequent tests with soundblaster and pc speaker did nothing to correct the issue, until I noticed and deleted ace.cfg.
