Tbh, this song hits close to home bc my last relationship really was a disaster. 6 years of physical, mental and emotional abuse just to end up getting pregnant by him and having to go through it alone while being with him. I'm in a new relationship and I'm trying to learn how to love and what love is. Last month I got out of a nearly 10 month relationship. Being with my ex really put a toll on me. She didn't want anything to do with me unless it involved me draining my bank account on her, when I told her I didn't want to buy something for her she would get so pissed off. When I wanted to spend time with family (which i barely did) she would start cursing me out and start throwing a tantrum when I wanted to be with the people that raised me. Also she would always start arguments as if she wanted me to break up with her and then she would act like nothing happened or she would act like I'm the bad guy. I have lost a few close friends because of the breakup because society has normalized hating the man even if the woman is at fault of the breakup. When I made that phone call telling her I was done, it's like all the weight on my shoulders got extremely light, I felt great after that and even to this day I don't regret my decision but I just hate the fact that my so called "friends" didn't want anything to do with me anymore because I was a victim of a female narcissist.
