Minecraft: The List- Episode 4

Over the past several years I've begun curating a list of things that should be changed, added, or altered within the popular videogame Minecraft. This list is now over 100 items long. I am happy to now share this list with you with a new weekly series: The List! This list is made from the perspective of someone who has played Java Edition Minecraft now for 13 years, the last 10 of which I have spent playing Minecraft as been my full-time job. I also have expert knowledge of many Minecraft systems and playstyles from Redstone to Speedrunning and have had several of my ideas over the years implemented into the game itself. I hope this video will promote healthy discussion within the Minecraft community about balance, intent, and feature depth within Minecraft. With any luck we might see some of these ideas implemented into Minecraft soon.

I love the quicksand idea!! However, i think that "jumping to keep your head above" isn't the best idea, since struggling makes you fall faster in normal quicksand. Maybe you naturally only sink to a certain depth, but struggling past that (jumping, moving etc.) can push you lower?

Cub is passionate about the snow balls.
And it makes sense.

Big extra on the quicksand:
It could turn Zombies into Husks (the same way powder snow makes Strays)
This could be added alongside a way to get renewable sand via Husk loot.
Quicksand itself could also somehow be used for renewable sand.

Lots of people have made great suggestions around this topic :)

Imagine: a player equips an ominous banner to their head, and gets the achievement “I’m the captain now” and can then ride ravagers. Illagers would be friendly but villagers and golems would be hostile/fearful.

I always thought dark oak leaves should be red, like autumnal leaves. Love the series. Cannot wait to see more. I have developed a wish list with my kids also and this series makes us all laugh. I want ice caves and icicle blocks that are like drip stone. Gives better way to obtain farmable ice.

Quicksand is such a sincerely good idea that's I've never thought of

Fall damage can also be eliminated by using a wind charge. So the list around 7:15 is even more extensive, which is absolutely mind blowing.

Great job on the video btw, and thanks for sharing it

I feel like when most people suggest changes to Minecraft, it's these massive additions like new biomes or dimensions or whatnot. These are small, reasonable, and entirely logical changes from someone who knows the game INCREDIBLY well. What a series!

The new resin thing inspired me with something they could do to fix the slime chunk issue. When you place the resin clump on the side of a block it places like glow lichen, what if slime balls could be placed like that too? And they could generate naturally on blocks in slime chunks.

They really should implement the standard 'hold button longer to throw farther' mechanic for all throwables.

The potion of levitation one!!! How cool would it be to use it in mini games and pvp? Not to mention less reliance on elytras.

Quicksand is a neat idea except that it doesn't exist in deserts because it is really water that is full of enough sand and silt that it looks like sand. Quicksand belongs on the riverside, the beach, the jungle, and the swamp, but never in the desert.

oak and dark oak leaves are actually ever so slightly different. dark oak leaves have some extra pixels and are ironically slightly lighter.

The quicksand reminded me. I totally want sandstorms in deserts. Not as a damage hazard, but like during rain and during thunderstorm a orange fog, like the old bedrock fog. Rain maybe 8 chunks, thunderstorm 2-3 chunks. While we are at it, for snow too, please.

The List is one of my favorite series now!

I really like the ravager idea, I always wanted a hostile mob that could be loyal to just one player it seems like it could make some fun scenarios with friends

The thing about the quicksand idea is that while the concept of having quicksand is great, it makes no sense to put it into deserts as that is just about the last place you'd find actual quicksand. Quicksand is a suspension of fine sand in water and therefore needs large amounts of water and mostly forms in boggy areas or certain types of coastline.

I like the "barometer" idea, although it should be called an altimeter :)

7:44 once again Mojang needs to bring back the combat snapshots because snowballs stacking to 64 was a thing (or even just add that on its own, there is really no need for this to be stuck in a snapshot that has been in experimental purgatory for over 4 years)

I've always had the idea of that the Ravager needs to have the potion of the turtle master effect before you can ride it, then when you do ride it, it starts hopping around trying to knock the player off. If the player tames it in this time they get it as a pet they can control. It brings some more use for the potion and turtles in general which would be nice to see. Maybe combining this idea with the enchanted golden apple as a way to start taming it?

I think it would be cool if the ravager was summoned in by building a structure, like the iron golem. When summoned by a player, it is peaceful to them, and can be ridden.
