I love how every other practitioner I've seen is very very serious and adamant about being nothing but respectful and mature and formal with spirits, and that you cannot joke around with them, and Frankie is out here going up to their spirits like, "KNOCK KNOCK, Y'ALL GOOD? Y'ALL NEED ANYTHING? I NEED HELP WITH A SPELL, C'MON OVER."

It's my absolute favorite thing and takes away some of my unease I get from being so strict and formal with how I talk and speak to spirits.

Your less ritualistic, more casual approach is similar to how I've been going about things, so that feels validating! I like when you mentioned some different ways of having a channel of communication open (screaming at the sky lol)

When talking about closed practices, I think it’s also important to think about the history of the religion. Caribbean religions that developed out of being stolen, raped, mirdered, had their languages, cultural practices, and religions stripped away from them their enslavers, enslaved peoples created these things for themselves in protest for their treatment and to retain their power in what little ways they could. When people from a colonizers heritage try to assume they have the right to initiate themselves into Voodoo or other closed practices, they completely miss the point that those spirits probably do not want to work with white people, even if their direct ancestors didn’t own slaves. My ancestors didn’t but they benefited from the white supremacy that permeates American society. That trauma that these religions were created from cannot speak to us. Idk why it’s so hard to understand. We have no rights to assume those practices as ours. Any approval of a white person practicing closed religions should come within that religious community itself to whether they accept that person as an initiate.

I had an experience recently that shook me, and when you mentioned St. Anthony I felt inclined to share it. I've been researching my paternal grandmother's Sicilian ancestry for a little over a month now and up until about a week ago we didn't know for certain who her father was or when he came here/where he came from because there are A LOT of people with his name. When I got back 65 results for his name on the Ellis Island website, I half jokingly said out loud, "This will take me weeks. Saints, please help me find this man." I'm not Catholic, and I was actually raised pagan and a witch by my grandmother on my maternal side of the family, but I've accepted the fact that Saints come with the territory of researching my ancestry. ANYWAYYS. I closed the window, forgot about great grandpa and went to do something else, when less than an hour later his identiy kind of just, dropped into my lap when I wasn't trying to figure it out. I didn't petition any of the Saints by name, but finding lost people is one of the things St. Anthony is known for so I'm definitely going to be lighting a candle for him now because the experience was just too coincidental and still has me shook.

Now I will never not think about a frat house when thinking about spirit work pffttt
But the metaphor was really good, I loved it!!! Finding easy and down-to-earth ways to explain the difficult topics is incredibly valuable

I accidentally started spirit work before I was a witch. I've always been able to see spirits but theres one that is really important to my life. He showed up when I was 5. He treated me like a little sister but my father never trusted him. Father can also see ghosts. Any time he caught me and Damian, the spirit, trying to talk to each other he'd force my sister to cleanse the house. I'd give damian gifts like frogs and books, and Damian would protect me from any evil he could. Anytime I was with friends hed watch from afar to make sure I wouldnt get hurt. When i was 12 i upset him. I started drinking and he hated it. He started getting violent with me and in a way tried to take over my body so I'd stop destroying myself. He was this way for a year and I quit drinking when I was 13. Our relationship went back to normal and even father started tolerating him. Damian would follow me to school and even some of my other friends would see him. He left earlier this year. 10 years with him by my side. I'm a baby witch still. I've been celebrating the holidays for a couple years but am only this year starting to get into practicing. Damian tought me a lot and now I can control when I see spirits because of him. I want to go into death craft because of him. I want to help others move on and get used to being dead. I miss him deeply but he was ready to move on and I know itd be wrong of me to stop him. Wherever he is now I hope hes happy and well. I hope he knows just how much I love and appreciate him.
Having said all this I've also encountered some asshole spirits so be careful!!

Literally listening to your video on my way home and not 5 seconds after you talk about your fox skull, a large fox appears on the side of the road of my neighborhood. He looked right at me and I stopped just staring at him and he crossed the road looked back once and then went off into another yard towards the woods. I was so stunned. I never get to see foxes around here.

I love how often Braiding Sweetgrass has come up in your videos. It has had a significant impact on my practice and I think it's great for witches of all stages 🌾💚

"you just gonna say hi" literally best overthinking working with spirits way too much limits the whole experience, we all just have to feel comfortable and say... hii..

Hi Frankie! I just started to talk to St Jude today and your video is a good helper on how I want to structure all of this. Thank you for reminding us respect is the key to all the relationships, visible or not ❤️

I am currently working on connecting with a particular spirit. I've never seen you on my feed, but as I had just requested some assistance in connecting, when I opened YouTube, this video was first. I'm impressed!

Different types of ivy need different amounts of light. Just throwing that out there in case. Also, might need to check the ph of the soil. 💚

My mom practices Mexican folk Catholicism and works a lot with archangel Michael but she’s more agnostic than believing in the traditional idea of God etc. it’s been interesting seeing her work with angels and saints but I haven’t been sure how to do spirit work in a way that resonates with me, since she didn’t raise me Catholic and I grew up Buddhist from my Dad.

I work primarily with ancestors and local humans passed away. I sense things in the place I am moving into but until I spend more time in there I am unsure of what currently resides. I also have non human spirits come to me at times with information but I do not actively seek to work with them. Great video. Hope you feel better.

I have a crow skull. I nicknamed birby. Hoping to work with the spirit. Right now it chills on my wall in a little display box I made for it.
