🇵🇷MORCILLA: Clean the intestines. Separately, blend all of the veggies. Blend the blood to make it smooth. Cook rice. Stuff the intestines with the entire mixture.

🇵🇷GANDINGA (PORK STEW): Chop the organs finely (liver, lungs and heart). Chop pork meat, then add sofrito (puerto rican salsa), olives, seasoning and hot peppers and potatoes. Add to a pot and boil for 45 minutes.

🇵🇷 PATITAS DE CERDO CON GARBANZOS (PIG FEET STEW): In a pot, boil chickpeas and pig feet. Add grated plantains, squash and seasonings (cilantro and achiote).

My husband and I love your videos and we are so glad you visited P.R.
We're are born and raised here, and live here all our lives.
I want to clarify something. We don't call it "tamales" in P.R. the correct name is "pasteles". It look like "tamales" actually, almost in all latinamerica people call it that way, no matter the difference in ingredients from one country to another, but here, the right way to call it is "pasteles". You can have two kind of "pasteles". One with "masa" of green banana, and the other with "yuca" also know as cassave. "Pasteles" are a delicious traditional dish served in Puerto Rico, specially during Christmas.
The origins of pasteles, however, can be traced back several centuries to Spanish colonial times.

I went to Puerto Rico for the first time last Summer and I immediately fell in love! This is a beautiful island, the people are friendly, the food is GREAT, I love their culture! Visiting this country was a remarkable experience. I'm going back this year to explore the country side and I can't wait!

My Abuelo is native Puerto Rican, as in my ancestors were Native Americans. He was murdered in NYC before I ever knew him & my parents raised me as a white girl from NJ. Puerto Rico looks lovely and so does their food. But I have to say both look very similar to places in the Philippines and the food as well, probably due to the spanish influence.

12:20 I was there with the US Army moving water and food across the Island. I trained there quite a bit in the 90s. Great food! Great people!
