When I was in high I almost dedicated this song to both of my grandfathers who passed away a few years before I graduated. I came very close to singing this song as a solo for one of our concerts but I didn't have enough time to prepare.

Don't look at it as a love song. Musicians write these songs to be relatable. Sure, it could definitely pass for a love song. But not just bf/gf love. Parents, friends, anyone who's changed your life. Shinedown does such an amazing job with their music, and sadly, they aren't listened to by this new generation of pop-loving children. Don't get me wrong, some pop is ok. But given the choice, I'd listen to shinedown over pop any day. Their music has meaning, and its strong, powerful, beautiful work. THIS is the kind of music that these teens need to hear. Put away your dang pop/whatever and put on some Shinedown. For real....
