I only use cruise control when I need to go to the back seat and make another drink.

One of my fondest memories, is watching you with my father. He's passed on but I am always reminded of him by your videos

Never been a fan of cruise control! Even on long trips I find it better to not get to comfy cause you will fall asleep or miss something and wreck! You keep your foot on the padels and your eyes open and you will live a lot longer!

Good point Scotty, its no coincidence thats where they park the laser radar. I was driving the 2005 and 6 GMC 2500HDs for a long time and they held speed on the cruise control like a tack, drove a v8 ford sport trac close to the same build year and it was up pulling almost 9 over the set cruise after cresting a steep hill. 2016 Equinox was about half as much variance but still those old heavy GMs were the more accurate.

If you suspect the speedometer is off (IE. swapped to your winter tires), open google maps on your phone while in the vehicle set a destination and compare what you see on the screen to your speedometer.

W211, 20 years old. The cruise control still works like a charm. Even on down hills.

Got Adaptive Cruise Control on my latest car...it's a 2008 Honda Accord! It's like being in a space ship compared to my old XType!

I love my adaptive cruise control. The car in front of me usually can't pick a speed and stick with it. It's also very handy in stop-n'-go traffic. That along with Lane Centering and you can just chill in traffic while giving the steering wheel a shake, like, every 15 seconds and hit the Resume if you've come to a stop for more than a few seconds.

Scotty ends his advice with great
humour and is superb. Makes my day always.
Scotty is needed big time in this world. Great fun I will be testing my cruise control, down hill too, carefully though!

A tow truck driver once told me that the occasional recovery in a ditch during a snowfall was someone used cruise control on the icy highway. 🤣

My memory of Cruise Control was me an inexperienced driver going down the highway. The passengers my mother and sister were talking very loud.

I asked them how to turn on the cruise control. They answered to get off the highway at X.
Then a few minutes later I asked what road to get off on. They answered the cruise control button is on the bottom right of the steering wheel.

It was incredible.

Got a 5yr. old VW which does exactly that. I only use the feature on the flat or going uphill. Downhill, the VW just takes the chosen speed as a minimum. Worse than this, once it’s added the extra speed going downhill, it won’t re-adjust once the car is back on the flat or going uphill. VW cruise control = not much control.

Always had cruise control, sure the car picks up speed going down a steep hill, just pay attention if you don't want to go too fast. Often on long decents you can just drop it out of OD and that will help it hold the speed without braking.

The cruise on my 2012 Acadia is the best I have had. Very accurate.

I got a 2022 Nissan Frontier (it’s my work truck) with the adaptive cruise control and it’s amazing I can drive from one highway merge onto another and merge onto another one without having to touch the brake.

The cruise control still works on my 88' Town car surprisingly

The ones I really worry about are Teslas and their 'autopilot' mode. There are already cases documented about drivers falling asleep or totally distracted reading a book or other activity. As with other things, It'll take some deaths before it changes. 🤦‍♂️

My 1989 Ford Econoline 350 RV C Class Motorhome holds it’s speed downhill, and doesn’t even struggle uphill with cruise on with the 7.5L Hollie V8 Engine.

I have a 1990 Ford Ranger and cruise control still works great.

In every car I've ever owned with cruise, I go downhill and it "lets off the gas". Thought that was the norm.
