What Does a Healthcare Administrator Do? I HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION

Health care administrators, also known as health services managers and health care managers, direct the operation of hospitals, health systems and other types of organizations. They have responsibility for facilities, services, programs, staff, budgets, relations with other organizations and other management functions, depending on the type and size of the organization.

Unlike clinicians, health administrators or managers do not deal directly with patients on a day-to-day basis. Instead, they help to shape policy, make needed changes and lead our nation’s health-related organizations in a way that serves individual patients by helping to improve the health care system.

So glad I found your video! I'm also a biology major with a BS and initially wanted to go into the clinical side of healthcare but soon realized it was not for me. I've been working for a healthcare insurance company for the past few years at entry level and I love it. I'm hoping to move up into an administrative role and also thinking about going back to school for a degree in Healthcare Administration.

I initially went to school for nursing and then I realized it was not for me I also tried respiratory therapist and I absolutely hated it I don’t like touching people I don’t like dealing with people’s body fluids or mucus so I’ve been looking into health administration because I still want to work in the health care field just not with patients directly. I also like dealing with money and budgets that kind of stuff is exciting to me and I like working with top people I’m not shy I speak my mind and I also like meeting new people all the time. I work in revenue management and have a healthcare administration degree. Definetly will not work managing a facility, way too stressful and my mental health comes first but you can do many many things with this degree ❤ I work from home but you can also work at an office/hospital etc

I’m 55, have no experience in the healthcare industry. I’m enrolled in healthcare administration for my bachelors. I know this is going to be an uphill battle, I would like to work in long-term care, assisted living. At 55 I hope to finish my career in the professional setting. So what do you think?
