A24 Rat Trap from GoodNature, Review

Norway rats are really hard to trap. They are very smart, and suspicious of traps. We have problems with these rats on our farm, in our barn, inside our machinery, and in our sustainable food forest/garden.

We have tried to trap and kill these rats in a lot of ways, but poison is not an option for us, since we have livestock and food growing everywhere.

This trap is safe for the livestock and dogs, but deadly for rats and mice.

I bought mine because I have several small dogs and setting up with regular baits severely limits where they can be located to prevent dogs getting them. Rodents can and do transport the baits to where pets can get them, which negates a lot of the precautions that might otherwise be taken. Then there's possible secondary poisoning after a pet chews or consumes the rodent. I've had both types of event and it's an expensive vet appointment, possibly for more than one pet. Baits that are less risky but still very toxic are very expensive.

Where I live 50 Racumen baits are AU$95. They work well but it'll take at least two feeds as the rat dies a slow, sick, wandering death, during which time it's easy pickings for pets. I know the Racumen works because I or the dogs find the dead and dying rats out in the open. This trap is safe for pets, safely locatable anywhere, humane, and in the long term will be cheaper to run.

AU$200 for the version with bluetooth and phone app was worth it. I had it a week in the wrong location for no results, so I moved it and BINGO! Immediate success.

After a “kill” the rats seem to avoid my trap…I usually move it and that sometimes works…I recommend a variety of different traps…the classic rat spring traps mixed w the new A24 and switching things around improves the yield. Bottom line is don’t underestimate the wariness of wild rats….born survivors!

We have been dealing with an Invasion of Rats, like you wouldn't believe! I believe because of the Tremendous amount of construction going on in every direction around the place where we rent. All the construction herds the rats inward to my chicken and duck pen, where also I have food for the animals. I have used Many traps, all kinds of fancy traps, in fact I bought the local Walmart out of traps one summer; So did other people. But I got tired of spending a lot for all those traps and I turned to a type of poison called: Ramik rat poison. Available at IFA Farm stores. It comes in little marble size pellets and is supposed to smell like fish to rats. I only use it where the chickens and ducks Cannot get to it! And when I poor some of these pellets down Rat holes, Sparingly, a week later I get lots of dead rats to dispose of. I dispose of the rats quickly so none of my ducks and chickens have any time to take an interest in them. As of the end of March in 2024 I have killed about 30 rats that I have been able to find. That's 30 rats per month! I am sure there are Many more down in dens underground that I will probably never find. Ramik works pretty well and saves me from buying Cases and cases of rat traps! Also many rats just ignore the traps or are too fast for the traps. I am Not interested in catching the Rats. I want to kill them all if I can! Total Annihilation of the rat population saves me on feed for the animals, and the endless tunnels that they dig everywhere which look bad and are a nuance. Steve Nelson North Ogden, Utah

I do not want to say this trap is over rated as I have been very impressed by the videos. I can only relate that it has been totally ineffective for me. I have a rat or rats under my shed and have actually caught some with snap traps but thought I'd have quicker and better results with the A24. Have had it in service for over a month with no kills. Tried a multitude of baits but the villains take only the small amounts of scattered lure I leave at the entry area. Have even had two strikes recorded by the counter but no bodies found and there are no scavengers around to take them as the back yard is totally fenced in. I envy those who have had good results and will keep my trap set up and ready to go but at this point am not hopeful.

thx for video, I just bought one :) I'm wasting $$ on other traps & they eat the bait & either don't set off trap or set it off & get away 8-10 times I'll add a bigger co2 tank I can refill from my 20lb tanks

Save your money. Brought one and it literally does not work. Still waiting for the manufacturer to even attempt to resolve the issue. save your money and buy something that actually works.
