I'm old enough to remember clouds of insects at lights and scraping them off the car. this year the ladybugs vanished. frogs, bats, and bees are nearly gone. even the black flies had a short season. All this in the central Adirondacks .. a "forever wild" preserve.

Insects are definitely highly reduced in numbers here in SW Florida. No insects on my windshield in 2018 or so far in 2019. I have seen 3 moths, 3 large mosquitoes, a few beetles, fire ants and some gnats so far this year. No bees or butterflies in my garden. I have become hyper alert to all non human life lest it be gone next week, next month or next year.

I love these videos but insects are some of the oldest terrestrial forms on the planet, they've been here for hundreds of millions of years. They will not go extinct wholesale
