Is this the most dangerous substance in the universe? Join us... and find out!

Strange matter is a hypothetical state of matter... and it could be very bad news for everyone and everything! In this video, Unveiled takes a closer look at strange quarks, strange stars and strange matter, to ask; what would happen if strange matter hit Earth? Could we survive? Or would it be the end of the universe, as we know it?

This is Unveiled, giving you incredible answers to extraordinary questions!

So the odds of us producing a single strangelet is 1 in 50 million, which means it's around 6 times more likely than winning the lottery.

One second you’re going about your life as usual, the next you no longer exist. Sounds to me like the perfect way to go. Bring on the strange matter.I can’t wait.

That is absolutely horrifying, like a real life Mr. Frundles...

Strange matter is denser than neutronium, right. 1 cubic centimeter of neutronium would weigh over 100 million tons on Earth. So, seems to me, we don't need to worry about being converted into strange matter if the Earth was impacted by a strange matter meteorite. The kinetic energy of the impact would kill us first!

If there were such strange matter infection, the universe would already have ginormous amounts of strange matter given the high population of neutron stars and collisions in the history.

So, and hear me out, what if gravitational lensing is so widespread, it acts like going beyond the event horizon where it envelopes us in the light instead of the dark

1 in 50 million? Is that supposed to be reassuring? that's very unlikely, but very, very far from being impossible.

You left out the scariest parts, that this would cascade as soon as it converts something and how stranglets move at almost the speed of light so we can't even see them coming, and likely couldn't identify a strange asteroid either

If it even existed, it would have already spread exponentially throughout the universe and would have essentially canceled everything out totally. Strange matter could also be a neutral partical field that gives a base for negative and positive charges alike to use as a catalyst and a barrier between the matter and antimatter fields, in other words maybe this strange matter exists as a neutral barrier separating the matter and antimatter matter fields ? It could theoretically exist as both on any given part of the field/fields that required it ! Effectively keeping the two states of matter separate but as one simultaneously ?

hey me again, he said it again this episode "en masse." love me some consistency.

Now, if one could find then isolate one of these strange quarks, find its stable resonant frequency that should allow one to dial through phase transitions and trap it in that phase if it does in fact exist. What in fact defines this border, is it a partical, is it electrical charge, could The Muon be a factor ?

This scared my son! Unnecessarily so!

As many commenters observer, if it could happen it would have already happened. The universe is old and there have been plenty of neutron stars.

These guys are just hunting for ad impressions!

A Fairy Tale straight out of a Science Book. Very Strange.

If it could happen, it would have happened.

I'd subscribe if these weren't overly simplistic and didn't leave me asking for a deeper or proper explanation of almost everything you reference, and didn't leave out the actual interesting physics going on. Like how this would spread at the speed of light or that it would make a cascade reaction

waiting for quarks stars to be discovered as black holes

This reminds me of the Molecular Disruption Device that destroyed the Bugger's homeworld in the book: "Ender's Game". Problem is that destroying a planet using this method would cause a strange matter pandemic to spread to the nearby cosmos -- an inevitable chain reaction of endless doom.

I noticed one thing that was overlooked the vacuum of space is not completely void of matter and so strange matter would have gotten to earth by now most likely
Assuming it was ever going to

The okanagan valley in British Columbia, Canada is creating a Casimir Effect ….I would love to speak with anyone who is educated on this subject.
The Native Americans have photos of Blue Plasma balls over the lake….they speak of many of these natural phenomenon.I have also witnessed this. The geology in this valley is creating electromagnetic anomalies.
