Do you think it's fair that the U.S impose tariff on Singapore's exports? Let us know in the comments below!

The 10% isn’t even our main issue. The main issue is the effect on global trade as we are affected by it. That’s why we are against US and China being adversarial and we want everyone to get along. We are strongly neutral.

From the title alone, you'd know this is a propaganda video to make us weak. But you're really taking the cheap and sleazy way to make us look the way you want us to look.

The 10% isn’t even our main concern. What truly matters is the impact on global trade, which directly affects us. That’s why we oppose the adversarial stance between the US and China — we want cooperation, not conflict. Our position remains firmly neutral.

I'm an American business man living in China. I own an aftermarkets custom prepainted motorcycle parts company. I know EXACTLY why Singapore got hit with these tariffs. For me, our orders average between 600 USD and 5k USD per customer. It's because there have already been tariffs on China, and so what we do is ship and store the products in South Korea and Singapore. It's how we bypass the tariffs when shipping to America. Well, now we can't get away with it... Trump and his team are smart.

All countries are affected. So why mention Singapore? We see it coming so long ago..

Singapore need not take any counter measures at the moment.
The main export to USA are legacy microchips semiconductors and biochemical/medical products, essential products to the American and World markets and in good demand.
Let the American buyers pay these products tariffs/taxes as they have no choice, no alternatives but to buy.

Good to know that the free trade agreement can be thrown in the bin at the slightest inconvenience

RCEP doesn’t get talked about enough, but it’s actually a massive game-changer. Covering 30% of global trade and GDP, it brings together ASEAN, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, and NZ into one of the world’s largest free trade zones. With global uncertainty and rising protectionism, this kind of regional cooperation is more important than ever. For a small, trade-dependent country like Singapore, RCEP helps us stay connected, diversify trade partners, and cushion against external shocks—even if big powers like the US throw out surprise tariffs.

On top of that, Singapore is also part of CPTPP, another major trade bloc that links us with economies like Japan, Canada, and Mexico. This dual membership reflects Singapore’s forward-thinking strategy—planning well ahead to stay competitive, relevant, and resilient in an increasingly unpredictable global economy.

Singapore has never been an ally of the US, it has remained neutral stance for years now. Singaporeans have prepared for this situation to come.

In recent years, China has increasingly turned to third-party countries in Southeast Asia and beyond to carry out final assembly of its products. This strategy is designed to give the appearance that goods are made in nations like Singapore, Malaysia, or Vietnam, rather than China itself. By routing manufacturing operations through these countries, Chinese companies aim to sidestep U.S. tariffs and trade restrictions imposed in response to unfair trade practices, intellectual property concerns, and geopolitical tensions.

These partner countries are not blind to the role they’re playing. In many cases, they are fully aware that they are being used as a workaround for Chinese exports. Assembly plants are set up with minimal local value added, often just enough to meet the legal definition of “country of origin” under international trade laws. Once the labeling is changed and paperwork adjusted, the goods are then exported as if they were manufactured locally, giving them access to favorable trade terms with the United States and other Western markets.

This practice, while technically exploiting legal loopholes, raises serious questions about transparency and fair trade. It undermines the intent of U.S. trade policy and places genuine manufacturers at a disadvantage. So before pointing fingers at any one nation, it’s important to understand the broader network of cooperation that makes these trade evasions possible. The blame doesn’t fall solely on China—it also falls on the countries willing to participate in these deceptive trade practices for economic gain.

Singapore should give job opportunity to its citizen and not to foreigners! Driving jobs and others are taken up by foreigners. Singapore is for Singaporeans! Other countries are thinking of their own people. Singapore should start changingbof how it treats its citizens.

Since when does Singapore believe we’re safe? Please do your research and read up properly.

Why so worried? If one door close find another door. If your products are only accepted by 1 country, then it's not worth saving. If its high demand then there is no worries one market closes another will open.

Please note that in 2023 Singapore exports to China were $37 billion while China's exports to Singapore were $63 billion As with Vietnam the vast majority these Chinese were destined to other nations most notably the USA
