im confident because im a member of wall street bets

He didn't "bet against America". He did bet against an overvalued asset class. Big difference.

just a suggestion, maybe you could make another video to talk about some cases where famous investors were extremely confident but wrong in the end. and talk about the mistakes they made. they would be good lessons for us to learn as well, I think...

Michael Burry deserves more credit for running a contrarian portfolio in a market full of growth focused investors. His GameStop $GME investment, with short interest of around 15% turned in a 14x in about 8 months. He will be considered one of the best when he is said and done. I wish he shared his philosophy with the public more regularly.

I think Michael Burry's bet against the housing market alone is a perfect example for three lessons:
1) If you have done your homework, be confident even if people call you crazy.
2) "Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."
3) Don't put all your eggs in one basket, a) because you'll always be wrong about something and b) because of 2).
He was spot on and was one of the very few who saw it coming, but he was also too early and overestimated the resilience of the broken system ... and he nearly went down for it.

The Man is a legend. A true maverick investor. Must feel pretty good to be him, and not just for the money. Actually the money is just an additive to a profile like that

I just discovered this channel today, and it's my favorite one by far. I can tell you've done homework and are really prepared for each video. The way you explain and break down concepts makes it easy to understand.

The quote in the movie where he said

_"I might be early, but I'm not wrong"_

Changed something in me

The important thing I learned from Michael Burry is not to be a contrarian, but to think for yourself. If you do your research and think the crowd is right, then go with the crowd. But maybe, just maybe, you’ll realize they’re all dead wrong. Awesome content, thanks!

Extremely confident and:
1. He was right 2008 crisis.
2. Right on GME
3. Right on TSLA short I am scared as hell on this!

EDIT: In the 2007 he was long with water, and at the end of the last year Wall Street creates water futures. Burry lives in the future.

EDIT2: He didn't short the market because he wanted to see the World burn in hell. He saw an opportunity and if it is there then you should act. It is part of the game. I am tired of people to see short people as evils. One way to build wealth is to create a long short portfolio. Media and blog devilizing shorting techniques as immoral. Double standard.

I would love to see an interview or book where really successful traders and investors talk about all the trades they got wrong and the times they almost lost their shirt. Talking about wins is only half the story.

He definitely knows what he is doing! I wonder how the Tesla short plays out for him. Thanks for the insights!

but where, where do you research ? for example,
1. where do you find how many short seller are on a stock now?
2. where do you view which hedge funds are invested in a certain stock ?
There are so many more details that it feels like only hedge funds have access to.
Is there a website with the in depth information about a stock ? (current investors, money moving, shorts, etc)

Burry always has such interesting picks in his portfolio. Often it's hard to see what he sees in them but then they end up skyrocketing.
