Smart Life APP VS Tuya Smart APP! What is the differance?

Home Automation has a lot of options for your WIFI enabled devices that work with your Amazon Echo. Tuya Home makes a lot of those devices, but why two APPS? Tuya Smart and Smart Life both of these APPS are able to Link Up with your Alexa skills but there is a difference and that is IFTTT. IFTTT it enables you to take a step beyond your APP and Alexa Skill and do something that neither APP or Skill was intended to do. In other words, IFTTT is an AWESOME workaround that you can use to make your Home Automation system work for you in the best possible way! Oh, and they work with your Google Home!

When I made this Video a friend of mine bought two different products and one said to use Tuya Smart and the other said use Smart Life. So I thought of the new end user like my Friend was confused and loaded both APP on his device. At the time when looking IFTTT if searched Tuya was not found on IFTTT. Now Since then through Viewer comment I have found that you can use your Tuyas Login to activate Smart Life On IFTTT. Very cool! But this information is not found on the Tuya instructions that come with the product and since the creation of the video you can now search Tuya on IFTTT and it will now load SmartLife as a selection.

Tuya has many fine products they have provided their platform to many manufacturers of Smart Lighting, Smart switches, smart plugs, smart power strips, fans, air conditioners, robot vacuums and video doorbells the list is extensive! The little round smart plug is one of my personal favorites! When I am looking for a WIFI enabled device I look for the Tuya Platform the price line of these process is always a step above the rest on savings and the functionality of these products is awesome!

Bruce, thanks for the Video. Do you know of any Tuya or compatible tuya framework device that reports back the current temperature? I've yet to find one. Also, have you ever found a door/window sensor that works within the app, but does not show up as a device when setting up scenes?

Do these apps have the same scenes for lighting?

The apps are exactly the same. IFTTT does work with both. I have both apps on my phone but I found I had less issues using the Tuya app. If I am not mistaken Tuya owns both apps. In fact in my Alexa app some of the Lights are listed as Smart Life and some are listed as Tuya but I only used Tuya app to install all of the lights. The reason I came to your video is because all of a sudden my bulbs have lost the ability create Modes in scenes. The option all of a sudden disappeared. I was hoping you might know why.

I have the Smart Life app and a BNLINK smart plug. I have it plugged into the washing machine that is in the basement. I want it to alert me when the washing machine is done. How would I configure that?

Is possible to link somehow a Tuya account with a Smart Life account with the sama name in order to see all the devices in both applications? Currently I have two identical accounts (user/pass) in Tuya Smart and Smart Life but there is no link between them.

Just so anyone that reads the comments knows, this video is not accurate. You can connect Tuya to IFTTT just fine. You use the SmartLife service but enter the Tuya login credentials. I have mine connected and it works fine.

whenever i reinstall the tuya smart app i cannot get my previous setup after signing in. It wants me to setup every device again. It shows two previous setups that I named but when i pick them it still shows no setup devices. Any ideas?

Bummer.. Tuya just cut off IFTTT in SmartLife. To continue using IFTTT switch to 'Brilliant' (apparently the same except for the name).
