I Tried a Danube River Cruise with Viva Cruises

I've been on several Danube River cruises with cruise lines that cater to mostly American travelers.
This time, I tried a new cruise line with a German heritage.
Viva Cruises has a new river ship Viva Two that features all kinds of great amenities that you'll enjoy.
While the ship has a definite German feel, U.S. cruisers will fit right in on this fantastic all-inclusive option for exploring the Danube River.

We just did a Rhone cruise with Viva a couple of months ago. It was wonderful- very comfortable room, unlimited drinks, excellent tours, excellent service, and the food! Oh, the food! Can't say enough about how fantastic the food was. Our cruise director was great and very helpful. Almost all of the passengers were Europeans - mostly Germans, some Norwegians, a few Belgians plus a group of Russian speaking Israeli's. Besides myself and my girlfriend, there were only two other Americans, which was fine by me. Everything was done in German and English, so communication was never a problem. The weather did not allow us to make the jaunt up the Saone, but that certainly wasn't Viva's fault. One of the most telling aspects of this was being in the Lyon Airport on the way back, was hearing some of the horror stories of passengers from other Rhone cruisers (other companies). And then there's the price point - much less than other lines! We cannot recommend Viva highly

We just did a Viva Cruise on the Rhône, and it was great. On ou r cruise, most of the passengers were German speaking, but it varies with each cruise. The crew was multilingual, our tours were with English speaking local guides, and the food on board was fabulous. All in all, a much better value than the cruise lines targeting Americans.
