One person said, Republicans. Masculine men, feminine women. Democrats, masculine women, feminine men. I can agree with that.

I just asked a fresh young female college grad what she thinks about Kamala. She answered that she will definitely vote for her in order to support women’s empowerment. In talking more with her, she gave me all the woke talking points about minorities and people of color, and also found a place to discuss my white privilege. When I pushed back on the white privilege part, she asked, “How would I know, not having lived as a POC (Person of Color)? These young kids are receiving indoctrinations. I’m afraid the Dems will steel this one too, sadly.

Nobody in San Antonio is aware of what's coming. I try to tell them and I get repelled.

In Australia it is illegal to be a dual citizen and be in the Parliament. Several members have had to resign because they were dual citizens. Some of them were unaware that they were dual citizens.

God these conservatives who get offended by you two need to grow up. Doug definitely shits on certain parts of my profession but oh well I just let it go. I still enjoy the conversations more than any other ones out there. Can’t wait further the book on what a young man should do. Thanks Matt and Doug!

I spent a month in Guyana this year. When I first arrived, it made me very uncomfortable. It started when I saw foot tall grass growing up between cracks in the pavement next to the runway. Had I arrived in a shithole? It felt that way when I was taxying to my apartment. I had a good cab driver, who took me and my companion to the mall. There we ate dinner and picked up enough groceries so that we would not have to run out, firs thing in the morning. He took us around the grocery store, even and told us where items were. He was like our personal guide. Very helpful.

After spending time in the country, I got more comfortable. We went out for walks in the neighborhood every day. Parts of it did, in fact, seem like a shithole but at the same time, there was construction everywhere, on everyone houses. It seemed people had money and they were improving everything.

It seems food and retail items are a bit more expensive there than in Detroit, where I live. I paid about 2 grand for a small two bedroom apartment for a month. That reminds me. It had a standby generator that would fire up automatically, any time the power went out. This happened maybe 15 times in the month I was there.

I stayed in Georgetown the whole time but I took a flight to the interior for a day trip. It was about $425 per person to take the flight. We saw the big giant waterfall and then spent time at a smaller one on the border with Brazil. There isn't a lot to do in Georgetown.

The people all speak English. The population is mostly African, followed by Indian, (from India, not native), and Chinese. The Chinese own the small grocery stores. There are two supermarkets (actual supermarkets, the small groceries area called that but aren't). The 2nd was bought by the1st when I was there. The country is about the same size and population as North Dakota, which is to say desolate. It has fewer roads into rural areas than North Dakota though. Hence me flying to the interior.

The Zoo was shitty. The coast was shitty. I had a good meal in the of the towns best restaurants. I got shitty street food from a vendor operating out of a trailer.

It's not a place I ever need to go back to.

34:12 - Reminds me of the 1941 Panama Balboa paper note. The Dollar being the currency of Panama, Panama decided to print their own paper notes. Issued by the Central Bank of Issue of the Republic of Panama through Article 156 of the Constitution of Panama, as enacted by President Arnulfo Arias on September 30, 1941.
The bank was authorized to issue up to 6, 000, 000 balboas worth of paper notes, but only 2, 700, 000 balboas were issued on October 2, 1941. One week later, Ricardo Adolfo de la Guardia Arango replaced Arnulfo Arias as president in a coup d'état supported by the United States. The new government immediately closed the bank, withdrew the issued notes and burned all of remaining unissued notes. Very few of the so-called "Arias Seven-Day" notes escaped incineration.

I’m in business Downunder and I know some very successful business people because they focus on their business but when I talk to them about politics they know very little. I find this stupid because you can make all the money in the world but if the politics turns against you how can you keep what you have earned?

‘Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber … and evil.’ Plato

PS … Great Podcast

I work in fine dining in the best part of town in a major city. I hear it all, from pillars of industry to the social chattering classes, to the rich talking about their fear and greed.

I'd be happy to provide Doug a bi-weekly report in exchange for a complimentary membership to the Phyles group.

Let me know.

The view from my vantage point: There’s a lot of drug addiction out there. A lot of people are in debt. Everyone is looking for a better job as if a $5000 raise is going to fix all their problems. People are very ignorant. They have no concept of history. “Successful” people are deracinated. The successful people have moved to areas of high employment opportunity, but as a result have cut themselves off from their extended families. Religious people seem to be doing better both fiscally and psychologically. There are a lot of miserable old maids everywhere.
