‘Corporate overreach’: More than 200 pubs ban Australia Day celebrations

Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes has slammed Australian Venue Co for banning Australia Day celebrations, branding it “corporate overreach”.

“It’s this corporate overreach, I mean when are they going to learn?” Ms Hughes said.

“Commercially, it’s stupid because it’s a big day that is a public holiday where Australians go out.

“They just don’t seem to get it, that Australians just want to get on and be proud of their country and celebrate their country.”
