Launched in 2006, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft has journeyed farther than any mission before it, racing through space at over 36,000 miles per hour. Its primary mission was to explore Pluto, a mysterious and distant world over three billion miles from the Sun.

In 2015, New Horizons made a historic flyby of Pluto, revealing stunning landscapes of ice mountains, vast plains of frozen nitrogen, and flowing glaciers. But the mission didn’t stop there; New Horizons continued into the Kuiper Belt, a massive ring of icy bodies and ancient debris that circles the Sun beyond Neptune.

This region, a frozen relic of the solar system’s formation, offers a unique glimpse into the early days of our cosmic neighborhood.

In 2019, New Horizons made the most distant flyby in history, exploring Arrokoth, a bizarrely shaped Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) that provided valuable insights into how planets form.

The Kuiper Belt itself stretches an astonishing two billion miles, containing objects that have been preserved in near-perfect conditions for billions of years.

Recent observations have even identified a new structure beyond the Kuiper Belt, challenging our understanding of the solar system’s boundaries. With a mysterious gap separating these regions, scientists believe these findings could reshape our understanding of the solar system and bring it closer in line with what we observe in other star systems.

I find it amusing that they speculate rather wildly about other stars planets and Kuiper belts and yet we are not even sure whether or not there is a 9th planet (not Pluto), so very close to home.

1:40 - "It is heading out deeper into the solar system". NO, deeper into the solar system would be TOWARDS the sun. It is heading deeper into space.

It's the Klingon invasion fleet 😩

From your stupid thumbnail I thought Blalock from the First Federation was coming for a visit.

the animations are wildly unrealistic - there are enormous distances between kbo;s you wont see more than one at a time.

Would distance from the sun make planetary accretion much, much slower?

What technology is sending data from that location to earth 🌎

Planet 9 should have lots of moons too.

What is the chance of the spacecraft colliding with all the rocky debris?

All this focus on New Horizons. Why not then data from the Voyager 1 and 2 confirming this? They are already "out there".

So you're trying to say they think the Oort Cloud is out there? I doubt very much the 1st place I would see evidence of that is on a YT doing really basic info about New Horizons.
Is there anything in this that lives up to the title or is it just a clickbait rehash of everything already known?

What is the current explanation of what is causing Ice ages on earth every 25 000 or so years?

so Planet X is actually on the other side of the Kupier Belt?

The trajectory! It's insane like the probe avoided all the flying stones just like that! They must have geniuses at NASA! Calculating the trajectory beyond 6 light hours out with such precision! WOW!

25, 000+ children die each day of starvation and preventable diseases. It a shame scientists have spent the same amount of money and time find ways to feed, clothe, house, educate, and provide medical care to millions of people worldwide. Or solutions for illnesses/diseases that still have no way to protect against.

But, sometimes we get pretty pictures.

Why hasn't the Kuiper belt coalesced into a planet or planets?
