I will need to experiment with this. I have only used collage materials as a base and did the work on top. Besides adding texture to the support, it also helps cover a previous and less than successful previous painting.

I did a mixed media piece with a friend and we discovered that the Pitt markers (India ink) can go over Neocolor I. I didn’t think anything would layer over wax crayons. It was a fun discovery.

I ❤ this picture! It's a feel good picture. 14:36 Molotow markers are 🤩 ng.. I can buy markers and nibs open stock, they are refillable and the nibs are replaceable. What I like best is that I can mix my own colours using the refills. I can even use non-Molotow acrylic in in them 😊. Thanks again for this picture, Lindsay.

If you want to do oils on top, seal the entire thing in an isolation layer of acrylic matte medium, 2 coats. Always matte if doing oils on top. Golden just did some studies on oils over acrylics and the only problem was oils on top of gloss acrylic

Hullo Lindsay, I do enjoy your multi-media artworks! I am no longer using collage, Since I found one of my previous artworks falling apart on my cousins wall! She said she had "repaired" it several times, but it just would not hold together. I did offer to take it home and figure out a way to keep it together. I am kinda glad she refused as I have no idea what I would have done to "fix" it! Maybe encase it in resin? Modpodge it through and through? She told me she just kept gluing it with Elmer's glue all! I told her whatever works! finding that all encompassing adhesive to keep it together forever is the largest hurdle for ALL Artists who work with non standard materials! Just one more thing to make my love for watercolors the best constant my in art life! I have never found anything that is as easy as watercolor paints on 100% cotton papers!
