Face ripping acceleration is the first thing we had to test with this EV, the Tesla Model Y in its Performance trim. While it is the third best-selling car in 2022 and the best-selling EV, it can't be perfect, right? In the context of the Filipino car buyer, we test this electric crossover through the ups and downs and on the city streets of the country. Will it be everything it's cracked up to be? Is it worth it? Let's to through its quirks and find out whether or not it's worth its asking price of P4,500,000 for this top-spec variant.

The wipers can also be activated by pressing the button at the tip of the left stalk. This should also bring up the menu that’ll allow for wiper speed selection. Long pressing the same button also does a windshield wash (spray) and wipe. Good review overall!

Nice review brother. You’ve opened my eyes to Tesla’s limitations in the Philippines. While Tesla is great here in the US and until Tesla integrates their cars in the Philippines, it wouldn’t be practical really for Filipinos to use it. A lot of the features are really useful for the Philippines ie GPS, self driving, Philippine apps, supercharging network, service centers etc.. again until Tesla establishes their support in the country it won’t be used at its full potential. I wish you could add more context as to why that is and if government has to do something about it or if Tesla just refuse to provide to our beloved country.

As for closing the charger port cover: you can either tap it gently, or leave it as is and it’ll close automatically.

Drove a rental during my previous US trip and loved every minute of it. Loved that we were able to load 2 large and 2 small luggage and with 4 passengers comfortable along the way.

That’s my car here in the US. We called it MYP. Fun to drive. Driving my MYP for almost two years now. I’m planning to buy MX and ship there in PI.

6:56 you can press the button of the left stalk for wipers. Also most controls can be accessed thru voice command if you do not want to touch the screen.

I suspect when Tesla comes to the Philippines officially, we will have no issues with the apps, they sell Chinese-made Tesla's in the UK and other parts of Europe that have the correct apps for their country.

1. Buy us tesla so that you can use all the apps

2. Buy portable wireless air pump. No need extra tire.

3. 3rd seat can fit 6.5 height.

4. Php 11.84 x 75kwtt = Php 886.5 for 100% 300 miles

5. Buy Tesla wall charger. It takes 3 hours from 0% to 100%. You can charge everyday 100% but use 10% so that 90% left. Hindi yan masisira yun battery 🔋. Your country has 220 volt no problem.
Don’t go below 20% battery 🪫

6. Auto open & close charging port no need manually.

7. Tire 🛞 you can put all 255 R 19 so that your performance will increase miles range.

8. It’s easy to drive user friendly. I drove the car in just 3 seconds super easy.👍😊

My cars 2015, 2017, 2018, 2023 all has free unlimited supercharge & premium connectivity for life.
I drove 200 miles a day & supercharge at tesla twice 100%

Caco, that is not an “infotainment screen” - that is actually a computer tablet.

Once you’ve personalized the seat position, side mirrors, etc., in the settings, you won’t have to bother tapping onto the tablet while driving.

Also, almost all the controls are accessible by voice command.

Opening/Closing the frunk, trunk, charging port, etc., can now be controlled by your Apple Watch.

Charging. Home charging is the main solution. You only really need Supercharging stations if you’re on long road trips. Like LA to SanFo/Vegas.

It is a fun car to drive! Not going back to ICE.

The infotainment apps problem is certainly a drawback, especially knowing the potential it has if we have the same app access as the US ones.

i hate it when the digital cluster is on the center infotainment system and every controls are on the infotainment system just my own opinion. RIP physical buttons

To answer your question.. I think owning a TESLA far outweighs the limitations of the infotainment limitations of a “China-spec” model.

If I could afford the Model Y… I can find myself adjusting.

Although, this review was very helpful for buyers considering a shift to full EV cars.

Happy New Year!

I'll wait for Philippines to be included in their website!

I'll buy a Model 3 once Tesla officially sells the car in the Philippines.

Got ours 4 days ago and it is amazing! More than enough space for a family of 5 with more space to spare for 2 more passengers and luggage. This is going to be great for philippine traffic, its efficient and not burning fuel up! :)

20:20 yes. like the latest Prius, these EVs are for short people. why? for better drag coefficient/range in highways. it can be said that the range killer for EVs vs ICE cars is wind resistance.

I've had my Model 3 Performance for about 9 months now and this is the 1st car in my life that I've put the most miles within a short time as it is very cheap to run, quiet, comfortable, safe with it's excellent AWD traction on wet roads here in UK. It also does 1/4 mile in 11.5s, 0-60 in 3.1s and it costs way cheaper than any other ICE car with this much performance and tech. Huge respect to all the engineers for inventing cool cars like these. It may not work for everyone, but it is a brilliant piece of kit for my needs.

Tesla Model Y is the best selling car for 2023 beating the Toyota Corolla. Hope PHI to accelerate more support to EVs so that filipinos can enjoy the benefits of EVs.
