Leaving a break in the clear halfway up the pillar, although im sure was sanded and polished smooth, leaves a seam that will be morr suseptible to sun damage and also actually voids most paint warranties from the manufacturer. Try getting the insurance conpany to pay for refinishing the whole side (with doors removed obviously) because any breaks in the clear will void paint warranty and isnt being repaired following any sort of factory guidelines from either the car manufacturer or paint manufacturer. Especially something as nice as an Alfa. Very smooth finish though great work
