My 75 yo mom had high cholesterol her entire life. Doctor gave her:
1) cardio aspirin to avoid cardiac issues,
2) gastroprotector to ease the side effects of the aspirin on her stomac
3) statins to lower her cholesterol
4) cortisone to calm the pain from the statins.
I told her if she didn't go Plant based, she wouldn't have lived enough to play with her grandchildren.
She went 95% plant based 4 months ago:
Her cholesterol dropped.
Doctor removed the statins, then the aspirin with the gastro protector, then the cortisone. Just to share 😊

I switched to a plant based diet overnight after reading the China Study. My cholesterol was 254 mg/dL and I decided to experiment on myself because I didn’t believe what Dr. Campbell wrote in his book. I checked my cholesterol after 3 months on a whole food plan based diet and my cholesterol was 170 mg/dL.

Dr. Mike has a video where he ate a vegan diet for 30 days. He said at the end that it caused him to be super gassy. Considering that he probably increased his fiber consumption quite drastically makes sense as to why that happened for him. At the end, he decided against continuing the diet but perhaps if he had continued, his cholesterol wouldn't be so high now.

I’m so glad you responded to his video. I was surprised when he admitted his cholesterol was high.

It's crazy how vegans won the war on if red meat is healthy. Glad we're having the much needed convo for white meat. Your so right when you said so many people think it's so much healthier when in reality there's little difference.

Before becoming a whole food, no added fat, vegan, my cholesterol was 258 while on statins. A year later, my cholesterol without statins is 156. I’m hooked. I feel way better and my mobility has increased and allows me to swivel my head and trunk without any stiffness. I am 60 years old and haven’t felt this good since my early 30s.

I’m a 60 years old vegan type 2 diabetic but control it with diet and never taken meds. I just got my blood work done and was concerned since I do indulge in vegan ice cream and other fun stuff with moderation and I don’t monitor my glucose at all. The power of plants has my cholesterol at 110, my A1C at 5.7, good cholesterol well above the average and bad cholesterol well below the average. High blood pressure gone, obesity gone, eyesight back to 20/20. My doctor told me I was the healthiest person he’s seen all week despite me being a diabetic. He thanked me for not having to talk about ailments and got to learn about veganism and the state of the climate crisis. I’m sorry but that guy is a poor excuse of a Doctor and I hope he continues to educate himself for the sake of his patients at least.

Hi my 24 yr old son is a vegan. Don't know Dr. Mike but I never did like eating anything with a face. Time for me to binge watch and learn all the things! I've got the borderline diabetes & high cholesterol. Time to get healthy! ❤

Well, gotta give him props for 1. admitting he had a health concern and then actually doing something about it and 2. taking down his red meat promo video even though it was sponsored, probably realizing how irresponsible it was.

Getting sponsored by the national Pork Board backfired, eh?

Could have been a great platform for Danielle to promote a vegan diet.

I wish you would post a video just laying out the detriment to health due to eating different types of animals, specifically fish, chicken, and pork. This is nice, but I can't get my friends and family to watch response videos. I love your videos because you cite sources and science, which is so needed in this argument.

Watching doctors like him making claims about nutrition clearly lets you see the process of how they put their own carnist and outdated biases on diets and health guidelines.

Mic- Going through some of your older vids in regard to eggs and cholesterol, heart disease, Many of the links to the studies there do not work any more. Maybe an update every now and then, or if you had a site where you have copies of these studies, that people could refer to. Reading studies isn't easy to do, finding the appropriate study is even more challenging. I appreciate those who know how to search and to read through those technical items I have difficulty with.

Cholesterol is not the Problem until it gets oxidized. There are also a few subtypes of cholesterol which may lead to trouble. Avoid sugar and processed carbs and processed seed oils. They increase the oxidysing of cholesterol.

I think I've seen him in some shorts, but I don't watch him regularly. Great video as always, Mic 💚🌱

2 months on low fat whole foods plant based diet dropped my triglycerides from 105 to 71, LDL from 132 to 84; and my HDL increased from 49 to 56. Not sure if that actually protects me from heart disease, but it did confirm the high triglycerides are not a concern for me even eating high carbs as long as they’re from good sources.
