It is better to pace yourself during an endurance event. If someone starts from that premise, measures like pace and power make a lot of sense. Use of power doesn’t require absolute validation for it to be more useful than doing nothing. It merely requires reliable bio mechanical and environmental measurements.

I’m not aware of any company claiming that their power is absolutely valid.
