Well Missouri is a good state to live in .
I am 68 years old I live in St LOUIS all my life

What matters to me is not so much the cost of living is is across the property taxes or whether you're even allowed to own a home free and clear without paying rent to the government. That is what over a 50 or 60 years spin really matters.

I think that sustainment costs are more important than the acquisition costs. If I can buy a house for $100k but I have to pay $20k in taxes each year, then I’m not moving there.

Moved from Connecticut to Texas when I retired. I love it here. People are extremely friendly, the weather is the way I like it, and the cost living is so low we have extra cash to spend especially at restaurants. 💪mrwtby
