I work in an office and the polo/chino combination can go from the office to a social situation very easily. 100% agree that shorts are simply not as versatile as chinos and sometimes they are too casual.

Went to a wedding last year where a whole family (2 adults 2 teens, and a 10 year oldish kid) was wearing shorts. And it was a pretty fancy reception on a rooftop building in Downtown Detroit.

1) Shots are good for sea-beaches I guess.
2) Chinos are great, I love them...
3) For summers no-show socks are a good idea.

One addition to summer footwear can be closed-toe huarache sandals. Think of them as braided leather loafers. I will be adding a dark brown and a lighter shade of brown to my summer collection.

White no-show socks are a good idea, if you're wearing white shoes. The socks are completely invisible even from directly above where you'd be able to see the heel of a different colour sock. I wouldn't wear them with any other shoes though. Vans make some good white no-shows.

How do you guys feel about stylish sandals, such as gladiator types made out of high quality leather, such as those offered by Armani, Versace, Hugo Boss, Cavalli, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Saint Laurent, etc, that look great with dressy shorts and chinos during the summer months?

Agree with it all, except black wayfarers in the summer is just something I can’t escape. Even wearing clubmasters or tortoiseshell ones are secondary to me.
