Arizona Measure Has Gay Community Claiming Discrimination

State legislature passed a bill that allows businesses to refuse service based on personal or religious beliefs.

There is no need for any "protected classes" any longer.  The bakery was shut down, and not because some stupid freedom depriving law, but because of the public using their own freedom to stop shopping at that bakery.  The civil rights legislation of the 60s was necessary because of the legacy of slavery.  There is no other class that merits the government making a law telling people how they are supposed to think.

This is stupid. This bill basically will harm the lives of many. This bill can keep a person from buying food at a grocery store, or hydro saying no to heat, water. This bill gives to much power to all the haters. This is no different then slavery.  This bill will cause war in time.

this is a good example that the bill opens a gate for legalising discrimination. anyone can easily say "my bible says that's a sin", and use that to discriminate anyone they don't like. anyone will be eligible to refuse service to straight, bi, black, white, latinos, asians, fat people, skinny people, people not in shape, people with blue eyes, bald people, you name it. because my religious beliefs should be superior to civic life. bravo, Arizona, welcome to the dark age.

I don't know if Arizona specifically tried this but, Kansas tried extending this to government employees. A police officer can refuse to help you. A hospital could refuse to treat you. A firefighter could refuse to save you. These laws are terrible. The courts overturned this law in Kansas. A fucking miracle. And these bills go further than just gays, people following Islam could refuse you service because you are a woman, or because you are Christian. These laws I can't stress enough are a huge step in the wrong direction from equality between anyone. The moral of the story is to suck it up and do your job, regardless of who you are serving.

Arizona was named the host of Super Bowl 27, but lost it because they refused to recognize the new MLK holiday.  If this bill is signed, Arizona will lose a lot of business

The bible also says we should own slaves, should we pass laws protecting that too? Or how about laws discriminating against divorced people, since Jesus himself said people shouldn't divorce.  Where does it end? Religion doesn't belong in government.
