Strap yourselves in folks...it's gonna be a tough one...

Today we're at The Garden Cafe in Long Eaton, taking a shot at their as yet unconquered breakfast baguette challenge. Diners have to finish one huge 20 inch baguette, stuffed with eggs, sausage, bacon, black pudding, hash brown, cheese and even hamburger patties; a bowl of tomatoes, a bowl of baked beans and a load of chips in order to get a spot on the wall of fame and the £25 meal for FREE!

*Originally the time limit was 30 minutes, but after the owner saw some big eaters fall way short, it was extended to 45 minutes.

What I like most is even though he’s eating a huge amount of food, it’s not gross like some other challenge eaters, where they just look sick. He does really well and it’s not disgusting, it’s mesmerizing

I love the genuine human interactions that take place between Beard and his random fans. He's a good measure of a persons calibre too. When I meet a new person, if they know about Beard, then I know they're a good sort already!

I live 20 minutes from Long Eaton, have been there hundreds of times and never knew this place existed, let alone this breakfast challenge.
Needless to say, I won't be calling in to attempt it.
Thirty years ago, I'd have been stupid enough to try but now, I'll leave it to the professionals.
