Load of bollox.. But.
1. Broken spring can be spotted straight away on the ramp. Unless you have a ramp and no idea what its for
2. A good Nct inspector never gives such advice. Because if it fails again, you will blame him on it.
With emissions so bad, there is more than one part to change (cat, lambda, maf...)
3. Tracking on rear of a quattro (TT, S3) is a pain in the butt, even for a good garage.
