Yep, that checks out. You might want to check the dishwasher filter, though.

Yeah I've opened many washers mid or early cycle and have never seen dirty ass water

Clean your filters, add dishwasher salt and liquid and don’t forget to do a “dry cleanse” (washing with no dishes on the highest temperature) once a month-every 6 months depending on how often you use it. For a house of 4 doing 2-3 loads a day we did it every month.

Note if your dishwasher has a quick cycle or "eco" wash then it fills once and recycles that water for the whole wash cycle. Only adding in new water for the final rinse segment.

If it has a longer wash cycle, sometimes called "pots and pans" then it does a short cycle with fresh water to pre rinse and a longer cycle with a second batch of water to wash.. which is recycled until the last few minutes.

This short cycle / long cycle is also why most washers have a spot for detergent, which is just wide open and another which has a door. So it can have soap for both washes.

If you use pods try 2 one right in the tank and another behind that little detergent gate. It works a charm.

I Open My dishwasher all the time mid cycle and it’s always clear

A friend did a similar thing and was concerned about the water colour so she did a swab test to see what bacteria would grow on a petri dish and it came back with almost nothing after like a month. So yeah, probably uses recycled water to clean of the chunks/grime and stuff before using clean/boiling water to disinfect.

I don't think people realize how water efficient dishwashers are. They clean a full load of dishes with only two gallons of water, where as washing dishes by hand uses up to 10x more water per dish. The dishwasher single handedly (lol) reduces a household's water usage by hundreds of gallons per month, or even thousands. The last bit of water shown in the video is the rinse cycle.

The first cycle is a Rinse that just knocks off the majority of gunk, then a draining followed by a clean rinse and then it releases the cleaning solution, finally a second draining/ rinse then drying... Because this is the most efficient way to get the dishes clean...

Bro clean your dish washer or get your water

Your washer should NOT look like that; that is concerning and rather disgusting

Thanks for making this video. I’ve been curious about that.

Cool camera.

Some washers have a button on the front or some sort of setting for water recycling. If not that, then filters and lines need cleaned, along with internal pumps and hoses.

It boggles my mind that people in this comment section think this is out of the ordinary…
He’s putting HEAVILY soiled dishes in the unit, of course the water is gonna be discolored. AND he’s using express wash. Express shouldn’t be used for heavily dirty dishes. It’s too short of a cycle to clean all that shit. Also, you can see when he held the saucy dish that it’s filled with that sauce, but once it’s inside the rack, half of it fell to the bottom of the dishwasher. The water comes in from the center of the dishwasher floor for this Bosch model, so the water is gonna appear to be dirty at the start, because the sauce is already on the floor of the dishwasher.

Let me educate:

1. Select a cycle, press ‘START’ and/or just close the door

2. The dishwasher will either attempt to drain water (even if there isn’t any) or the water valve will open and let water into the unit

3. Water valve will fill the dishwasher until either a float sensor (the plastic dome in the corner for most models/brands) floats up and tells the water valve to close, (or in the case of the Bosch dishwasher in the video, the circulation motor turns on periodically and detects the resistance of electricity depending on how much water is in the dishwasher and then once it reaches the target resistance, the water valve is closed.)

4. The water that is now in the dishwasher is RECIRCULATED. Meaning, the water is reused. If you put a dirty dish as shown in video, the water will be dirty. (THIS IS NORMAL. The first couple wash cycles are only for removing the food/sauces, not for ‘cleaning’ just yet.)

5. Once a set amount of minutes have passed, the dishwasher DRAINS the dirty water out.

6. Step 3 is repeated.

7. Step 4 is repeated. The Heating element turns on (most heater elements are the visible metal ring on the bottom of the dishwasher, or in the case of the Bosch in the video, the heater is hidden in the circulation motor under the machine. The heater heats the water to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.)

8. Step 5 is repeated.

9. Step 3 is repeated.

10. During this third wash cycle, the soap dispenser opens, dropping the soap pod/tablet or liquid/powder dishwasher soap. The heat of the water will melt the pod and soap will enter the now CLEAN WATER. The water is clean at this point (unless you load like the guy in the vid, in which case your filters are gummed up with old food or sauce and it would be your fault if you call and pay for service because your dishwasher is ‘stinky’ or it’s ‘not cleaning’), the food was sprayed off the previous two wash cycles.

11. The dishwasher may repeat the fill/wash/drain cycles two more times with soap in the equation now.

12. If selected, after the last drain of the entire selected cycle option (‘Normal’, ‘Heavy’, ect.) the dishwasher is now empty of water and the heater turns on for at least an hour. The constant heat will dry the entire inside along with the dishes. Rinse aid will help with foggy dishes. The dishes are now clean.

There you go. Now you know what you should’ve known when owning a dishwasher.

Breaking news: man discovers his dishwasher has a rinse cycle

jaroodthefab

Dishwashers start off with a more powerful wash that only lasts about a fraction of the entire cycle, this initial wash is meant to just remove stuck food and not to actually clean the plate, however, if you use dishwasher pods, this part of the cycle actually works less because you have no soap in the pre-wash cycle, it is better to use liquid soap than to use pods so that you could clean your plates better during the pre-wash cycle, after the pre-wash cycle is over, the soap compartment opens and your dishes are actually cleaned

All dishwashers use a 2 cycle washing procedure.

1st cycle is a pre-wash/rinse cycle to get the grime out of the plates. There is only water in the machine and dirty water gets re-pumped to save water.

Then the machine drains all of that dirty/filthy water. And gets in fresh water out of the tap.

The second cycle called "wash cycle" begins and your detergent gets added in to the water. Since most of the grime was rinsed off the plates in the previous cycle the detergent can work efficiently.

German for "dishwasher" is "spülmaschine" which means "rinse machine". In other words, rinse your dishes nearly clean before loading, then run the DW.
