American here, I won't pretend to understand Brexit completely, but I can, in my very minimal knowledge of it, that it does not seem like it was a great decision.

I'm Canadian and looking in, it looks a lot like Trumpism in that doubling down on the lies is the only way to not look weak, rather than admitting your errors and mending them. Their pride is stronger than their desire to evolve into better people.
