LifeProof fre for iPhone 5 Review

I reviewed the Lifeproof case for the iPhone 4/4S last year and loved it. In fact I purchased three more for family members throughout the year. I have been using the LifeProof fre for the last several weeks and still feel it is one of the best rugged style cases on the market.

It currently retails for $79.99 and is at the same price point as last years model. It is molded to fit the iPhone 5 well and so you notice a thinner case as compared to the previous generation. I like the materials used in the fre and love the styling.

I only have two quibbles with the case. First the touch screen seems to be less sensitive than the previous version of the LifeProof case. Occasionally I would find that the screen was not very responsive and I had to press harder to get the screen to recognize my touch. This did not happen all of the time but I did encounter it on more than one occasion. Second I noticed that if the port that protects the lightning port was closed and I was using either the speakerphone or playing music at louder volumes the case would distort the sound. This was quickly remedied by simpling opening the lightning port cover.

Overall I really like LifeProof and feel they offer some of the most protective cases on the market. I prefer the materials they use as compared to Otterbox or the Griffin Survivor cases and feel that they truly would protect your iPhone from just about anything life can throw at you.
