Is It Safe To Buy A Porsche 911 GT3 Again? I Revisit The GT Product Debate

Two years ago, I created a video look at the 911 GT marketplace and the strange atmosphere that Porsche had allowed to happen.

Today, we revisit that topic and ask the question - can you buy a 911 GT3 again, without losing a lot?

I can't be the only one thinking Jay is really underrated even at 91K subs? His general presentation style and command of language is so refreshing as compared to the obnoxious shouting and clickbait from so many other automotive channels - who seem to be tailored to a really childish audience

Buy a car because you want the car, if you profit when you sell it then BONUS! If not, that's not why you bought the car.

I can't tell you how hard I laughed when Porsche announced the 991.2 GT3 manual. You could almost hear the simultaneous worldwide scream of 911R speculators.

As someone with a 20 year old Honda Civic, this video is very relatable

Great video! I'm actually pleased to see the arse drop out of the P car market. Investor speculators with no appreciation of the actual value of a GT3 (that being an incredible unfiltered driving experience) just about ruined the market for a period of time. Cars, especially GT cars, are there to be driven and enjoyed, not sat in a garage in some speculative "asset" collection. I achieved a life long dream last year and bought a 991 GT3. It gets tracked and thrashed on B roads regularly. The fact I'll lose money never enters my mind. Porsches should be driven like they were stolen. To hell with cars being treated as non depreciating assets!!!

If you want any sports car, I’d suggest you wait until end of the summer:

1. The fallout of Covid will be truly known by then. Lots of people will sell their toys; they aren’t essential
2. People buy cars, especially sports cars for the summer and sell before winter kicks in. Great time to buy if you can lose a summer of driving
3. It gives you time to be patient and think things through. If it still makes sense and you still want it then go for it. Impulsive purchases are rarely good

If anyone offers to sell you a McLaren F1, or a Porsche 959, or a Ferrari F40 and you have the means to pay for it you should buy it.

Bought a used 991.2 GT3 for list. Drove it 20 000 km on track over 1, 5 years and lost £12 000. Best money ever spent!

I have zero chance of buying any Porsche let alone a GT3, yet here I am.

I know a guy here in Atlanta, GA that bought a 911R for $800K on the pre-owned market when they were at massive hype.

I've got enough money in the bank for a second hand Vauxhall Vectra, but still found this interesting.

Stay well clear!

All performance cars are in for a big adjustment. Unless you can get huge discount, I simply wouldn’t touch anything. We are going into a long slowdown.

I'm happy with my 991.2 Carrera. Like the analog dash and classic features better than the newer car. 370 hp plenty fast for every day driving.

Your subs have really jumped during the coronavirus, congrats! I'm from the States, your perspective on car topics and your style are a nice change of pace.

Am I the only one who prefers the styling of the 991.2 over the 992?

Hi James, I was the second owner. You may be interested to know I paid 132k from an independent specialist dealer. Didn’t do very many miles in it and traded for 120k 18 months later. Thanks for the informative show.

As far as cars not being investments. Some cars are. I bought these cars used and sold each for more money. Porsche 993 Turbo (sold for double after 5 years) two first gen NSX, E46 M3, E90 M3, two Honda S2000’s, my BMW Z3M Coupe and my current 2005 NSX and BMW 1 Series M are both worth more than i paid for them.

Another great, honest video on a car which is purely designed for track and “everyday” use ability. Investing in a car of this nature means your taking the privileges away from the fun and the design aspect, creating higher forecourt prices, the purest is not being able to warrant using the GT cars as Porsche intended. My wife and I have plans to buy one of these cars, bucket list, to enjoy the rest of our lives touring the British isles, sounds more fun than investing doesn’t it? Investors buy houses, it’s a no brainer, GT cars are for the purest not investors🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🥂
