Awesome! I've been wondering about horizontal vs vertical as well. This will be very interesting. I have one loop on the back deck of home leaving it ten feet at least above ground. The finished basement walks out to back yard, so the elevation on tripod is quite different. The polarization of a loop got me thinking of X loop, quad loop, hex loop, etc. Experimenting is something one must do to learn the finer points.

Mike, I have used active loops since the first design of Andy (Wellbrook). Have mounted them in all kinds of setups, like hight and also the way you want to test, in a horizontal plane. I still have 3 of them in use, but from different manufaturers. Let me comment on what you have said in the R. Korea reception when you stated that the direction of your incoming signal is not from the direction it supposed to be. My guess is that your loops are mounted to close to the building and are receiving signal reflextions due to the steel in the concrete wall. Testing in this environement will by my opinion never offer you a clear result. As you noted in the past and wich is obvious, your reception will never be clean. My suggestion is that when you want to obtain a honest and conclusive result for making a video that will give real good credit to the SDRplay team is to go out in a quiet (rural) field setup with good distances between the antennae and and make a maginficent video. Sometimes it pays out to go out of your comfort zone. After all it is summer and a nice outing can be refreshing. In your present setup at home you can use the 2 antennas to eliminate some of the noise for shure. Good luck!
