Sometimes you get somewhere in life where you fall down and struggle to get back up but then your friends and family notice, sometimes they'll grab you by the arms and help you up, gripping you tight to keep you from falling under again. Thats what this version of this song feels like. Like a gentle hug during a hard time that says "You've got this, even if right now you feel lost and fallen down, you've got this, you can resurface."

A lot of people like to go on, and on, about how Fallen Down is both comforting /and/ unsettling. No one ever says why.

It's cause it's the first sense of comfort you're offered in a world that you just got thrown into and then nearly died within. It's because Toriel knows it hurts, she knows you're terrified, and that either you're doomed to the underground or you're gonna have to go through hell to get back to the surface. It's because you want to be home. It's terrifying, the thought of it- who knows the life Frisk had before they fell down? She's trying to make life as easy as possible, but it's gonna suck. Your whole life has been, as far as you're concerned, irreversibly changed. Who knows what'll come next? But, for now, you can stay here. You can rest. Heal from your injuries, and process your situation. You've got a long road ahead of yourself.

That's why Toby Fox is a genius.
